We offer considerable support to families who offer homes to children. This support is available for as long as it is needed. Social workers at Families for Children are trained Adoption Counsellors and can offer support through the process of finding out more about their family of origin to adopted people, adoptive parents and members of birth families.
The main focus of our work is to provide families for children with special placement needs. These may be:
- All children over the age of 12 months
- A child who has mental, physical or emotional disabilities
- Groups of brothers or sisters
- Children whose development may be uncertain due to factors in their background or early life
A wide range of people are needed to provide the qualities that best meet the needs of each individual child.
If you live in Devon, Cornwall (including the Isles of Scilly) and Dorset, you qualify to adopt through out agency. Unfortunately, your name cannot be retained on the waiting list if you move out of the area.
